So, I’m thinking I may not drink caffeine anymore. But, that’s really hard. And, like, my favorite drink of all time is coffee and things that taste like coffee. And what about coffee ice cream? Do they have decaf coffee ice cream, I’m pretty sure that doesn’t exist!
I do have a good reason for thinking about, maybe, considering no more caffeine. It’s because of the PANIC!! If I haven’t mentioned this before, I have panic disorder (like The Bloggess, but I don’t spend parties in the bathroom) and agoraphobia (please click link if you think this is a fear of open spaces). And the panic has been super duper, really, horribly, terribly bad and intense lately. Caffeine tends to heighten the panic. Therefore, removing it from my diet is probably an awesome idea. Want to make sure you don’t think I’m doing it like, becoming a vegan because all my friends are and I buy all of my clothes from American Apparel or something.
My office doesn’t provide decaf coffee and I would have to stop by Dunkin Donuts every morning (by the way, best coffee on the planet!!) and get some. Which means I will have to get up a little earlier. And spend money when there is perfectly free coffee at work, but it, unfortunately, has caffeine. I’m totally against paying for things when there are other free things. And I love Chai tea, and I don’t think they have good Chai decaf (mind you, I haven’t researched this at all). I don’t think I can drink hot tea in the mornings for forever. ‘sigh’ Thank God they make caffeine free Coke!
I also feel like I should make some kind of anti-caffeine stand if I’m going to quit it. But I don’t know if I have it in me.
UPDATE: I had to break down and take the ativan today and I haven’t even had any caffeine…sigh…you guys….
UPDATE!! Maybe I need to do some kind of master cleanse to get all of the caffeine out of my system? What do you all think of that? And good or bad experiences?

Ugh, that is no fun. I have an anxiety disorder but I don’t think I could function without coffee. I’m trying to address it via therapy.

It’s totally not fun. It’s so bad, it can’t just be addressed with therapy alone. I haven’t even had caffeine today and I’m freaking out

I gave up caffeine when I decided to try to get pregnant. I now drink caffeine free soda, lemonade (the best!), milk and lots and lots of water. When it comes to your health, making seemingly big changes like giving up caffeine is totally worth it. Especially when I tell you that once your body grows used to not having it … you’ll find you really don’t need it … and actually feel more awake than when you drank caffeinated beverages!

Maybe I should do a cleanse to get the caffeine out of my body?

Whew, this is a rough one. I wrote a thesis in my undergrad days and had so much going on in my life that normally laid-back-me was like OHMYFREAKINGGOSHEVERYTHINGISWRONG-me and the world was basically ending. I had to stop drinking coffee for awhile too to avoid having panic attacks, but the good news is, once things settled down, I jumped back into caffeine with both feet and am doing fine :)
Good luck!

The caffeine stays in your system for 12 hours. Stay off it for a day and a half and you’ll be caffiene free. No need to do a cleanse your body does it naturally on its own.

Hey, I just went off caffeine because of panic/anxiety that I’m going through right now due to major stresses/changes/crazy-shit going on in my life. It’s been GREAT! Just don’t drink it. Stop cold turkey. I haven’t had caffeine for…about three weeks now and I have way more energy than I used too. I don’t feel tired like I used too and I’ve saved money because I’m not buying it when out or buying coffee/creamer to make it at home. Now, I can’t say that it’s decreased the panic/anxiety because I think the increase in my meds did that…but clearly I don’t need it so I’m going to stay away from it in the event that it does increase panic. Good luck!
