I am one of those weird people who hate summer. Sure, when I was a kid it was pretty cool. No school and I could go to the pool all day. There were camps to go to and lots of outdoorsy things to participate in. Then, I went to college. And I got a job and now it’s just hot. There is no more fun or whole days at the pool. Well, on the weekends there are.
I do enjoy summer activities, like going to the beach and stuff. Problem is, I don’t live at the beach. If I did, I would probably hate my life because as an adult I have to go to work and the beach is right there and I have to wait until Saturday to go there and where the hell do I go on vacation now? It’s like a sauna in Atlanta. Being hot is one of my least favorite things ever. True story.
On Monday, I decided to have some me time and channel fall. There was just enough breeze that I was able to pretend. Like, October fall. Not September, that is just an extension of August. It was lovely. Until a mosquito bit me and I saw a flea.
Now we are in a heat wave. And it’s humid as it can be. And I feel like whining about it, you’re welcome.
UPDATE: When I was out for my lunch break, I was people just wilting in the heat. People are literally melting. True story.

ugh, you know why I hate summer?
BEES
WASPS
damn lighting bugs
and dragonflys
oh and poison ivy.
but I love it for: my birthday, lemonade, elephant ears, 4th of July, sunshine.

You’re way more optimistic about it than I. I hate hot and I hate bugs.

When we were vacationing in Grand Cayman, at the same late afternoon time every day, this same guy would show up at the beach to go wind surfing. I’m pretty sure he was a local and just headed to the beach straight from work. When you live by the beach, you don’t always have to wait for the weekends. =)
That said, I think I’d hate summer if I lived in the south, too. It’s always too hot. Too humid. Too damn uncomfortable. You think our winters are bad? I’ll take them any day over your summers!

Yeah. I say that about winters and then it gets to, like 18 degrees here and I’m singing a different tune. I would love to visit in the winter or late fall though. I love fall. I wish it got colder earlier here.

haha, I completely understand. I’m trying to look on the bright side by remembering that last summer we’d already had like 35 days of 100+ temps…..but 97 is still HOT. *sigh* One day I’ll move to a cooler climate.

I totally believe you. I almost went and got frozen yogurt, but if I went by myself to get it it would’ve melted in the car. And then I would’ve had to sit at the place alone, like a loser. Usually, I’m okay sitting alone somewhere. But, I kind of feel like a lonely loser lately, so…it totally didn’t happen.

Dude. FLEAS?! WTF.
How hot is it there? We’ve been at the 115 and humid mark lately and I am d-y-i-n-g. Every day.

Oh I cannot imagine what it’s like there with all that humidity. I’m actually going to Vegas tomorrow for the weekend & it’s going to be sooo humid there that I’m going to DIE.

You won’t actually die, you’ll just wish you were.
